Questions

FAQ about service dog training in NYC

Some of the most common questions we hear from New Yorkers starting this journey.

Do you provide fully trained service dogs?

No. We work with you and your existing dog (or a dog you acquire with our guidance) to build service dog skills. This helps create a stronger, more reliable partnership long-term.

How long does training take?

It depends on your dog, your disability-related needs, and how much time you can invest in practice. Many teams work together for 12–24+ months before calling the dog “fully trained.”

Can you help if my dog is reactive?

Possibly. We’ll evaluate first. Some reactivity can be improved; in other cases we may recommend that a different dog would be safer and more ethical for service work.

Do you write letters for housing or travel?

We can provide training records and behavior summaries. Any documentation about your disability status must come from your medical or mental health provider.
